One of the key objectives under the Twelfth Five Year Plan (2012–2017) is that the Indian pharmaceutical sector should grow to INR 360000 crore (USD 60 billion size) in 2017 and that by 2020, the sector should be at INR 600000 crore (USD 100 billion).

The Department of Pharmaceuticals, Govt. of India has a Vision for the development of the Indian Pharmaceutical Industry:
“To make India the Largest Global Provider of Quality Medicines at Reasonable Prices”.

The Vision is to be achieved as per the following Mission:
“Develop Human Resources for Pharmaceutical Industry and Drug Research & Development”.

Let us all contribute to the achieving of this mission. With this, Pharmacists will also have more opportunities to prove their worthiness in the society..

Indian pharmaceutical industry is recognized as one of the fastest growing segments of the Indian economy. Cost of drugs produced in India is lowest in the world..

There are over 300 large and 10,000 small and medium pharma manufacturers across the country out of which about 77% are formulation manufacturers and about 23% are bulk drug manufacturers..

Indian Pharma market is INR 140000 crore (USD 23 billion). India is exporting to more than 200countries..

India is today recognized as one of the leading players in the manufacture of pharmaceuticals. India holds 4th position in terms of volume and 13th in terms of value of production..

India has the largest number of US FDA approved manufacturing plants - 225 plants (largest outside US). This has resulted into export to US at very cheap prices.
So, there has been significant development of the industry and pharmacy profession in India..

Pharmacy Council of India is committed to the cause of Pharmacists and pharmacy profession and calls upon all pharmacy professionals to share the vision of PCI and join hands with it in its endeavour to produce pharmacist workforce competent for the society..

I invite you to join hands with Rajasthan Pharmacy Council. Let us all work together towards strengthening knowledge base of pharmacists to further uplift the profession of pharmacy.
